Drivers who have a British driving license must be fully qualified to drive. They are legally allowed to drive any vehicle. They have to know how to use all the parts of a car, including the steering wheel, brake pedal and gear lever. They also need to know how to change gears, reverse and park.
If you don’t have a driving license, you can still drive, but you will be breaking the law. You can apply for a learner’s permit if you need to take driving lessons. This will allow you to drive legally, but you will have to be accompanied by an instructor. There are other requirements as well –

For the test, you will have to sit behind the wheel for an hour and two thirds of that time will be spent taking the test itself.
You will have to demonstrate your knowledge of road signs and what the traffic light signals mean, and you will have to answer questions about speed limits and driving rules. You will also need to demonstrate how to drive on the left and right of the road and how to reverse into a space.
